Sophie Joy Crow, passed away peacefully at her home February 12, 2012. She was born Aug 10, 1924 to Edward and Ester Stodtmeister in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High in 1942. She met her husband Charles K. (Bud) Crow while working at D.D.O. and they were married on Aug 4, 1945. Sophie and Bud were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Apr. 17, 1968.
Sophie served in several LDS Church callings always working with the youth. Sophie, along with more than twenty of her friends belonged to what they called "The Girls Club". They met on Wednesday to play cards, eat and discuss their families. They drew names annually to establish their "Secret Pals" and would leave cards and small gifts for a year on birthdays and special occasions making an effort to remain anonymous. The club lasted over five decades without having a member move out of the area.
Sophie was a fiercely loyal friend, devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Fred an Ed and her husband Bud.
The family wants to say a special "Thanks" to Sonia Krupp, Sophie's CNA and Jean Brown her senior companion who did so much for Sophie during the very difficult last years that she spent struggling with dementia. May God Bless You for all of the love, patience and friendship you showed our Mother in her time of need.
Sophie was survived by her four children, Terry, Dave, Jim and Susan as well as 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Family will meet friends on Friday February 17, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm., and one hour prior to services also at the mortuary.
Interment will follow at Ogden City Cemetery.
