Karen VanDrimmelen Smith 68 passed away May 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born on May 2, 1944 to John and Cora (Flint) Van Drimmelen in Ogden Utah. Karen graduated from Bonneville High School where she was a Lakette, she also graduated Weber State Cosmetology School. She married Lewis A Stone, they had three children and later divorced. She then married Edward "Skip" Smith, with whom she spent many happy years.
She worked for several years at Sierra Lingerie and later worked and retired from IRS in Ogden. Karen made many dear friends at both places. Anyone that was lucky enough to meet Karen, knew what a loving, caring, special person she was. Karen always had a kind, uplifting word for all and she opened her home to many people through the years.
She absolutely loved spending time with her family, and treasured every minute spent with her beautiful grandchildren. Decorating was something she enjoyed.
She is survived by her loving husband Edward "Skip" Smith. Her son Casey Stone, stepson Rick Smith (Katie Dignan), and daughters Wendy (Timm) Kleeb, and Tami Masters (Michael Landon), seven grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and other family members.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at LDS hospital for the loving care they showed to our Precious Angel.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 2pm, at Leavitts Mortuary, located at 836 36th St. in Ogden. Viewing will be held on Monday May 7, 2012 from 6-8pm.
